LBK Psychiatry is Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick’s private psychiatric practice, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick offers single-session psychiatric consultations and group therapy, when clinically indicated.
Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick’s practice follows the consultation model, which provides primary care providers (General Practitioners (GP) and Nurse Practitioners (NP)) with psychiatric diagnostic clarification and comprehensive treatment plans for their patients.
Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick does NOT offer follow up care. The referring primary care provider is responsible for follow up and implementation of the treatment recommendations following the consultation.
If you have previously been assessed by Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick and your primary care provider requires further diagnostic clarification and/or additional treatment recommendations, they can send a re-referral to LBK Psychiatry. Upon receiving the re-referral, Dr. Lesley Kirkpatrick will determine if she is able to offer further clarification and/or recommendations. She will either contact your primary care provider directly or we will offer you a single appointment for further clarification.
Both psychiatric consultation and group therapy is covered under MSI, for individuals who are residents of Nova Scotia. Dr. Kirkpatrick does not accept out of pocket payment for these services.
LBK Psychiatry is NOT an urgent care facility. If you are in crisis, please call the Mental Health Mobile Crisis Team, toll free at 1-888-429-8167, call 911, or attend your closest emergency department.

If a psychiatric consultation is indicated by your primary care provider, then your family physician, nurse practitioner or a walk-in- doctor can fax a referral to our clinic, at 1(902) 797-1415. We only accept referrals through fax and only by family physicians and nurse practitioners (as per MSI guidelines).
Referrals are triaged based on the information provided by your primary care provider (GP or NP). Once a referral has been faxed to our clinic a letter will be sent to your referring primary care provider informing them if the referral has been accepted or declined. Your primary care provider will be aware if your referral was accepted or declined. We will not be reaching out to you individually to inform you if your referral was accepted or declined, so please follow up with your referring practitioner to inquire about the referral status and to discuss alternative options if declined.
Your referral will be declined if you do not fall within our patient criteria (please see above) or if there is a conflict of interest.
